This year we are taking an exciting new direction with our Spring Shakespeare tour. We are able to offer your school a choice of 5 Shakespeare texts and, after consultation with AQA and Edexcel, we are delighted to offer a workshop that will serve as an invaluable tool for any pupil studying, or about to study, GCSE English and Drama. Spring Shakespeare has taken on board GCSE specification changes for 2010 and will feature exploration of language, themes, character, story and, most importantly, it will provide an interactive insight into how the characters think and feel. After consulting the exam boards the texts we are offering are: Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night and Julius Caesar. When booking please specify which text you would like us to bring to your school. The workshop will last 90 minutes and involve performances by 4 professional actors. The interactive workshop activities will be led by Henry Bell, Education Director. The practical exercises have evolved from his experience of teaching and directing Shakespeare having worked at Shakespeare’s Globe and elsewhere after completing an MA in Staging Shakespeare. As with all our schools tours, the production will play in the round. The maximum number of pupils per workshop is 80. It is essential that schools respect this if participating students are to benefit properly from the workshop. If you have any questions about booking please contact either Education Director Henry Bell or Outreach Officer, Stevie Boreham as below.
