The Education Centre in association with 14-19 Workforce Support is hosting an Insight into Journalism day for teachers preparing to deliver the Diploma in Creative and Media on Thursday 25 March. This is a unique opportunity for practitioners at all stages in their professional development that are delivering or preparing to deliver the Diploma in Creative and Media. Practitioners will be able to spend a day at the Guardian where they will get a better understanding of applied learning in Diploma delivery and gain invaluable sector insight that can be embedded in teaching. Practitioners will be able to find out how a national news media organisation works and understand more about the skills that students will need to work in the sector. Practitioners will receive training that will enable them to develop inspiring applied learning projects that can be delivered in the Guardian's new state of the art Education Centre. During the day practitioners will meet Guardian journalists and learn about the 24 hour news cycle; talk to news reporters, feature writers, picture and sub editors; find out about multi media and new media approaches to the news: understand the role newspaper advertising, as well as go on a tour of the editorial floors. This workshop is supported by 14-19 Workforce Support and is fully funded.
